Titelseite der Januar Ausgabe des Luft- und Raumfahrt Magazins der DLR

NetSat soll erstmals die Selbstorganisation von mehreren Satelliten im dreidimensionalen Raum im Rahmen einer Formation im Orbit zeigen. Dafür werden wichtige neue Technologien zur Formationskontrolle und -koordination erforscht. Dies eröffnet dann innovative Perspektiven für künftige Sensornetze im All zur Erdbeobachtung, wie dreidimensionale Bilder von der Erdoberfläche und Computertomographiemethoden für den Blick ins Innere von Wolken.

Ausgezeichnet mit einem ERC Advanced Grant

Prof. Dr. Klaus Schilling (Univ. Würzburg) hat diesen höchstdotierten europäischen Forschungspreis für Einzelwissenschaftler des European Research Council verliehen bekommen. Wegen seiner herausragenden Testumgebung für Multi-Satellitensysteme wird er am ZfT als Gastinstitut durchgeführt.

Die In-Orbit-Formationstests wurden außerdem durch das Bayerische Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie im Rahmen des Projekts ForTe gefördert.

Einsatz kollaborativer Robotik in der Satellitenfertigung

Im Rahmen des NetSat-Projektes wurden vier Cubesats (mit einer Masse von nur 4 kg) entwickelt, gebaut und mit den notwendigen miniaturisierten Subsystemen ausgerüstet, die für einen Formationsbetrieb benötigt werden; Beispiele hierfür sind fortgeschrittene Systeme für Lageerkennung und Lageregelung, zur Orbitbestimmung und zur Kommunikation, elektrische Antriebe zur Orbitregelung und Formationserhaltung, aber insbesondere auch verteilte, adaptive Kontrollsysteme zur Selbstorganisiation im Orbit. Diese Mission setzt erstmalig den Formationsflug in einer dreidimensionalen Konfiguration um. Damit werden innovative Möglichkeiten in der Erdbeobachtung eröffnet.

Die vier NetSat-Satelliten wurden am 28.09.2020 von einer Soyuz-Rakete in eine erdnahe Umlaufbahn gebracht. Weitere Infos zum Raketenstart sowie den Livestream finden Sie hier: NetSat Launch Event.
