Bachelor’s/Master’s Thesis (m/f/d)

This thesis/intern offers the opportunity to develop a multiconnectivity network system (multi satellite + 5G) to control a mobile robot. The objective is set up a testbed combining connections to a Geostationary satellite, a LEO satellite (Starlink) and terrestrial base station (5G network). This allows to deal with different service requirements of endpoint such as mobile robots, drones. Each service of the endpoint has to routed through the most suitable network, depending on latency, data rate, …

Tasks

• setting up connection to a Geostationary satellite, a LEO satellite (Starlink) and terrestrial base station (5G network)
• combine the systems in one node
• setting up connection from the single node to a mobile robot
• implement solution to transmit different services from the mobile robot using different connections (GEO, LEO or 5G), depending on service requirements (latency, data rate, …)
• design, implement and evaluate experiments with the system considering
  • different services
  • different parameters
  • strategies for connection selection

Previous Knowledge C++ and/or Python, ROS, basic network knowledge
