The State Minister for Science, Markus Blume, has gotten a personal view of the current advanced research projects at the Center for Telematics. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed, followed by a lecture by Prof. Schilling, introducing the Center for Telematics with a particular focus on the satellite manufacturing research factory.

While traditional satellites were manufactured worldwide in double digits per year by individual manufacturers, an increase to several hundred is now being observed. This now requires and enables the use of cost-efficient advanced automation methods in the field of space travel. For the ZfT, it provides an excellent opportunity to leverage the synergies from the three departments of space travel, automation, and robotic vehicles, to be active at the forefront of research.

It was an informative day that offered a thorough insight into the work of the ZfT and the possibilities of a satellite manufacturing research factory. A practical part of the visit took place in the hall where several demonstrations were presented, including human-machine interaction and TurnTables.
