3M Antenna

To integrate the test facility into the global “Internet of Things”, ZfT operates the quickly adjustable 3m antenna in the S-band or X-band range. This allows especially tests in view of the upcoming “Internet of Space”, in order to safely perform contacts with satellites in low orbits.

The parabolic reflector with a diameter of three meters enables both high reception sensitivity and a high data throughput. The S-band antenna and the corresponding receivers are also used to establish a robust radio link between satellites and ground stations in small satellite projects and to characterize the performance of the communication link. There is also good potential here for high-performance terrestrial radio relay applications.
